|Steven K Ahlfeld MD|
Steven K. Ahlfeld, MD has been in private practice in Indianapolis as an orthopaedic surgeon since 1984. During that time he has become a recognized leader in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Many of Dr. Ahlfeld's patients are competitive or recreational athletes, who have suffered some type of sports-related injury.
Dr. Ahlfeld knows what it takes to be a competitive athlete. As a college student, he was a member of Indiana University's basketball team, and was a member of three consecutive Big Ten Championship Teams. In 2006, Dr. Ahlfeld was inducted to the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2007, he received the distinquished Clevenger Award from Indiana University. He was proud to be named Team Physician of the Year by the Indiana State Medical Association in 2008. Also, in 1996, Dr. Ahlfeld was honored to be named to the Indiana University Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team.
Following graduation from Indiana University, Dr. Ahlfeld attended IU School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 1979. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency training at IU, Dr. Ahlfeld received his specialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the University of Oregon. His research interests during his fellowship training included knee ligament injuries and other common sports medicine conditions.

|Matthew Sowder DPT|
Matthew Sowder DPT, CSCS has been managing the rehabilitation clinic at Ahlfeld Sports Medicine since 2009. Dr. Sowder earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Indiana University – Indianapolis in 2008 after obtaining his Bachelor degree from Indiana University – Bloomington in 2005. He has also been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) since 2007 and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
